Bible Questions
In your daily reading for these first six months of 2010, what questions do you have? Do you find anything confusing or need clarification on any portion of scripture?
As I was reading the laws and restrictions and basically everything that the Israelites had to do in order for them to be righteous and Holy in God's eyes, what can we void of dismiss or are we to dismiss anything at all? I understand that Jesus came and gave us a new covenant and changed many things but I just wanted to know more about what to look at and how to look at the old laws.
I don't really understand how Moses was able to deal with the Israelites for so long. Every time he told them to do something, they did the exact opposite, and then would get angry at him for every little thing, they were so freaking whiny! After reading Exodus-Numbers I was hoping that God would ignore Moses and just wipe them out.
David, I have an opinion about what you are asking but I cant say definitively that its the RIGHT answer. Ill point it to Rudy.
Mike, how are you any different from the people of Israel? Every time that I read that portion of the bible I become more and more thankful for Gods grace, just like Moses' with his people. I know that EVERYONE acts like the Israelites from time to time - no one is perfect.
Well what I really didn't understand about that, is how Moses had more mercy and patience than God, cause God was ready to wipe them out, and a lot of the time he did kill a number of them, but every time Moses was there telling God to have mercy with them.
"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." Romans 12:3
-God's grace enables us and allows us to do what God calls us to do, correct? And how can we think of ourselves "in accordance with the measure of faith God has given us?" What does this mean?
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2
-In what ways can our minds be renewed?
One of my Bibles footnote says the following: The renewing of the mind, which results from setting the mind on the spirit is the base for the transformation of our soul. Our mind is the leading part of our soul, and as it is renewed, our will and emotion automatically follow to be renewed also.
"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:5-6
